6 Effective Ways to Work Out at Work

Alas, another hectic week!

Sometimes the last thing you want to do after a crazy day at work is put on your workout clothes and head to the gym. But moving your body is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Implementing these simple tips into your workday is the perfect way to boost productivity, relieve stress, and bring a little ingenuity to your fitness journey.

1. Don’t dream it, do it

The hardest part is starting. Setting a goal for yourself is the perfect way to kickstart your fitness journey. Start small. Find a routine that works for you. Exercising doesn’t have to be a two-hour commitment. It can be as intense or laid back as you want. Do what makes you feel good. If you don’t have a goal in mind, here are a few to get you started.

  • Hit the gym twice a week 
  • Reach 10,000 steps a day
  • Try a new workout once a week

    2. Get those steps in

    Burn a few calories by doing laps around your workspace between phone calls. And if you love to reach your step goal, this is a great way to get it done before you clock out for the day. Walking just five minutes has proven to lift moods and energy throughout the workday. You’ll come back to your desk feeling refreshed and ready to take on your next project.

    3. Be resourceful

You won’t have to waste time on the commute or waiting for your favorite machine. Hop on the treadmill between phone calls or get a sesh in during your lunch break.     Are you slumped over your computer right now? Bad posture gets the best of all of us. Try standing up and stretching those muscles throughout your workday. Standing gets your blood flowing, burns more calories than sitting, and is great for your body and posture. Standing up at least once an hour is an easy way to be more active in the office. Better yet, try standing while working. Find a workspace that has high tables or standing-level desks and get to work.

    5. Refresh and renew 

    One of the biggest barriers when working out during your day is the sweat that comes with it. Pack a small bag complete with makeup wipes, deodorant, and even a change of clothes. These items are the perfect tools for any post-workout refresh you may need.

    6. Food for the soul

    One of the most important aspects of working out is making sure you have enough energy to do it. Fueling your body with the right nutrients and staying hydrated are necessary parts of an active lifestyle. If you work out on lunch break, make sure to eat something first. If meal prepping isn’t your jam, try grabbing food nearby.
